This year is the 19th season of our Book Club, founded by Lynn Doyle. Book Club meets 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., at the Lockport Branch of the White Oak Library District located at 121 East 8th Street, 2nd Floor, North Meeting Room.  This year, five books were chosen from recommendations from club member. All LWC members and guests are invited to participate.

October 15, 2024: The Women
The Women by Kristen Hannah is a historical novel set during Vietnam War and follows the lives of several women from different backgrounds who are brought together by the war. The story highlights their struggles, sacrifices, and resilience as they cope with the challenges of wartime life. The novel explores themes of friendship, courage, and the impact of war on women’s lives, emphasizing the strength and solidarity that emerge in times of crisis.

February 11, 2025: Table for Two
Table for Two by Amor Towles is a collection of six short stories and a novella. Each story explores critical moments where two characters face each other across a table, confronting new realities in their lives. The stories span various settings, including post-revolutionary Russia, turn-of-the-millennium New York City, and 1930s Los Angeles.

March 18, 2025: Facing the Mountains: A True Story of Japanese American Heroes in World War II
 Facing the Mountain:  A True Story of Japanese American Heroes in World War II by Daniel James Brown is a non-fiction book that tells the remarkable story of Japanese American soldiers who served in the U.S. Army during World War II. The book highlights the experiences of first- and second-generation Japanese Americans who were branded as “enemy aliens” after the Pearl Harbor attack in 1941.

April 29, 2025: When Crickets Cry
